All coal fired steam ships would have at least one of these hoists to lift the ash into lighters when in port. Original made by Railton, Campbell & Crawford of Liverpool. This interesting model was made by Eric West in 1993 and now forms part of the SMEE collection. Displayed at a Guildford Model Engineering Exhibition.
