First, here’s one from Jan Ridders. Who would not like this Newton’s cradle? Design your own or ask Jan for his drawings. Jan designed it for grandson Gijs.

For the grown-up reader there is:
available from good booksellers or direct. Here are a couple of comments from reviews so far:

Cherry Hill's models are wonderful art as well as amazing feats of engineering. This means that they are very photogenic. Does this book do them justice? The answer is yes. The quality of the photography (which is an enthusiasm of mine), both by a professional photographer in the early models and by Mrs Hill in the the more recent models, is stunning ... and the printing quality in the book is superb. The problem with this sort of book is usually the text that accompanies the pictures. In this case the author has done an outstanding job. He obviously spent a lot of time with Cherry Hill. The description of the models is both detailed and very interesting. The reproductions from the Victorian patent sources are informative. The text is full of interesting anecdotes, and the biographical details of Cherry Hill bring the models' creator to life. I have many friends and relations who are engineers and this book has sorted many Xmas presents!

This is a lovely book, and reflects the obvious care in making the engines as well as the joy of the author in describing them. This is the kind of book to be enjoyed by dipping into it at regular intervals, for inspiration, admiration, and aspiration. Highly delighted with this.

Another one from Jan Ridders is this novel device. All details on the video.
