Iain Holland’s

Most steam locomotive boilers are mounted horizontally, but a small number of locos have the boiler mounted vertically. Their quirky appearance reminded people of coffee pots, hence the nickname. The boiler layout did not catch on in great numbers – but they do have a very special charm, inspiring a many to construct models. This French coffee pot model is in 5” gauge. Built by Iain Holland it was displayed at the last Model Engineer Exhibition as was another in 32mm shown at the bottom of the page.
