Roger Froud visits the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace and shares with MEWS readers some of the interesting models on show. As ever there was plenty to catch the eye for thousands of model engineers on their annual trip to North London. Plenty of nice locomotives  and other steam models to see this year, along with other types of modelling to add interest. Some interesting boats (ships) as well from flash steam hydroplanes to scale cruise ships, and steam launches to the entire Royal Navy fleet. A model of the SS Great Britain is one to remember.

It is, perhaps, the great variety on show that maintains the huge appeal of Ally Pally. There were, for example, at least two examples of home built 3D printers, one of them built by 17 year old Ewan White from scratch. There were many other impressive models shown by teenagers and pre-teens.
