Our next locomotive by Giancarlo is the magnificent Italian Railways Pacific 4-6-2 no. 691.001 dating from 1929. This model was built over a period of 22 years, and includes 12,400 components. It makes a large model, even in gauge 1, at 715.5 in length and weighs some 5.9Kg.

The final locomotive needs no introduction. It is Stephenson’s Rocket 0-2-2 of 1829,successful in the famous Rainhill Trials of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. Rocket was the most advanced engine of the day and was the template for most steam engines in the next 150 years.
