STUART NO 1

AND 5a ENGINES

F Moon displayed nice examples of two engines from Stuart Models at the 2013 Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition. The Stuart No 1 (pictured in red) was introduced by Mr Stuart Turner more than 100 years ago. This first model from the famous stable remains in the catalogue to this day. It is a classic design, well-proportioned, and makes a fine display model. With a 2” bore and stroke it is also quite powerful.

More powerful is the famous Stuart 5A, choice for many small steam boats around the world. It can produce 1.5bhp at 800rpm and working steam pressure of 100psi. Disc wheel, feed pump and reverse gear make it a popular marine engine.

The 5A bore is 2.25” and stroke 2”.

Drawings and castings for both models are available.
