This model was designed and built by Derek Payne with further detailing by Keith McDonald. It is powered by two series wound motors each of 3KW and total power is eight HP. Four 200 Amp Hour batteries supply 24 volts throug a 275 Amp solid state controller. Total weight is around 850 pounds (420 KG) It has airbrakes. The Western region diesel hydraulic was based on the German class, the V200 built by Krauss Maffei. They had a novel construction, using a stressed skin, and two longitude round tubes in the lower frame. That’s why they only weighed 80 tons, some 33 tons lighter than conventional locomotive of the same power. Swindon ‘Warships’ had two Maybach V12 engines and a Mekydro hydraulic transmission to each bogie. They became the class 42 and together with the 33 Locomotive of class 43 built by North British locomotive with MAN engines, had all been withdrawn by 1972 following rationalization by BR to diesel electric. Two were  preserved running on Heritage railways
