This 2” dia x 2” stroke single cylinder reversing steam engine was shown at a Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition by Wally Sykes. It is to a Clarkson of York design.
The business was founded by Harry Clarkson in 1947 and became established as a leading builder of model locomotives, and built most of the models shown at the Festival of Britain in 1951 and later for British Rail. It also started to supply drawings and castings for home builders. The range included steam engines and workshop equipment as well as locomotives.
Sadly, Clarksons ceased trading in the late 70s and the designs and casting patterns remained dormant for decades but many have now been made available again from another supplier.
