A Bartle showed his model of this classic 1920 petrol engine as used on farms for pumping water, powering machinery and so on, at a recent Doncaster show. The model takes its inspiration from the 2½" HP Lister Junior. A kit is available from The Engineers Emporium and includes aluminium and iron castings, a pack of material and 64 pages of drawings.

  1. Principle dimensions - 23cm high (9"), 15cm wide (6"), Flywheel diameter 10cm (4"), Bore ¾", Stroke 1¼".

  2. Hopper water cooling (including cylinder head).

  3. Exposed valves.

  4. Glow ignition (for simplicity, can be converted to spark ignition).

  5. Working governor.

  6. Twin cast iron flywheels.

  7. Can be built on a 3½" lathe.
