ARDS TT RACE CAR

Brian Swann’s prize winning MG K3 in 1:7 scale, at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition.
The K3 was one of MG’s most iconic competition models and was raced by some of the most famous drivers of the 1930s. Designed to take on the likes of Maserati in the 1100cc class of international racing, it was a highly developed version of the K-series Magnette, introduced at the 1932 Olympia Motor Show.
It developed 124 horsepower at 6,500 rpm from a single overhead camshaft supercharged six-cylinder engine with only 1,086 cc displacement. It was the ultimate example of a series of highly successful supercharged sports racing cars for which MG was famous in the pre-war era.
K3003 was a 1933 Ards TT race car (no 17) driven by Whitney Straight. The race was won by Nouvolari in another MG Magnette.
