MISSISSIPPI RIVER STEAMBOAT
By Chris Saunders
This Mississippi river steamboat was built by Chris Saunders and shown at the 2018 Bristol Exhibition. It is of plank on hull construction based on a Sergal kit. It is typical of American steamboats from the 1870s to 1920s with a shallow draft which allowed navigation of all but the smallest of the main rivers. However, the powered model is tricky to sail due to the low waterline and high superstructure.
