MYSTERY CLOCK
By P Pratt
This mystery clock was shown by P Pratt at a National Model Engineering and Modelling Exhibition back in its Harrogate days. Mystery clocks are so-called because there is no apparent power source to drive the clock. They have been around for well over a century, made in many guises by well-known clockmaking firms. Just over 100 years ago Cartier was among those offering mystery clocks and in recent times one of these has been sold at auction for more than $1.5m.
