RAINHILL IN 7.25” GAUGE
G Smith
This Rainhill was built for 7.25” gauge - double the size of the original design by LBSC. It was shown at a Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition.
Curly based the design on Stephenson’s Rocket, successful at the famous Rainhill Trials of 1829. Its success pointed the way to the subsequent development of the railways.
