Oscillating steam engines have become popular, and more multiple cylinder versions are being seen. Here Julius de Waal takes his own look at a four cylinder design from the Netherlands. Although it is entitled ‘Simple’ it does present some interesting challenges to the builder in addition to the sometimes tricky manufacturing for any oscillating engine.
