IN PART ONE of the article on tool sharpening, I showed a jig for grinding small drills. In response to requests to the editor the drawings are now being published. It should be pointed out that this jig does a good job, but it is not easy to align the drill in the pin chuck. The exact same problem existed using the old 'Wishbone' jig. I would be very interested if anyone who makes it can come up with a simple method of aligning the drill since success depends on this.
This is especially true with very small drills. I have managed to sharpen them with this jig. However, it is luck if the alignment is correct, hence I advocate buying packs of drills in very small sizes as often a drill breaks at a critical moment with no spare to hand!
