TICH

Tich was LBSC’s effort to design a beginners locomotive in 3.5” gauge that could be driven on a track. There has been controversy ever since about what the best way to achieve that, but certainly Tich has had plenty of builders, and in larger gauges, too. This was a nice example in 3.5” gauge shown at the 2018 Midlands exhibition by Dave Lee. A book on building Tich is now out of print, but the drawings and castings are readily available, as are instructions for novice builders in old volumes of Model Engineer magazine from 1949 to 1952.
