3 CYLINDER MARINE STEAM ENGINE
By Nick Hale
This three cylinder single acting reversible marine steam engine was displayed by Nick Hale at a London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace. It is an original design to power a model tug, built from cast iron, aluminium, brass, phosphor bronze and steel stock. Bores are 1/2” and stroke 3/4”.
The cylinders were bored in a cast iron block and the crankshaft fabricated from mild steel, pinned and silver soldered. A separate shaft, driven by the revering gear, drives the slide valves.
