ACUTE TOOL SHARPENING IN ACTION

Some time back we described the Acute Tool Sharpening System, designed as an easily built and cost effective way to make the shaping and sharpening of a wide range of tool bits and cutters in the workshop as simple as possible. A new video of the Acute in action can be seen below.

It is now available in kit form from Eccentric Engineering. What can it sharpen?

Lathe Tools.

Basic and custom tool shapes up to 3/8" or 10mm square and 1/2" or 12mm round, boring tools and bits, grooving tools, parting blades, round nose tools, form tools, screw cutting tools.

Milling cutters.
The ends of 2, 3, 4, and 6 flute slot drills and end mills, T-slot cutters, woodruff cutters.
Shanks up to 1/2" or 12mm diameter can be held in the inserts. Sixteen millimetre shank cutters can also be accommodated by fitting them directly into the tool block and using a square or hexagon collar for indexing.
Drills.
Centre drills, multi flute countersinks, flat bottom drills.

Slotting and broaching.
Rotary broaches, shaper tools, slotting tools.

With additional accessories currently being developed the system will also be able to sharpen drills using the four facet method, slitting saws, and form tools using a template and follower.

It is available as drawings, laser cut kit or as a finished unit.
