This model of a 50ft steam picket boat (pinnace) is in 1:12 scale and built by John Whitfield. It was shown at the 2014 Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition. It is fitted with a Proteus boiler and a two-cylinder Borderer vertical steam engine.
The design represents a type of vessel which could be used as a picket boat, liberty vessel or an admiral’s barge.
