One of the showstoppers at the 2014 Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition was this 1:6 scratch built scale model of a Caterpillar D9 Bulldozer displayed by the Hereford Society of Model Engineers along with a lot of other impressive work. The Bulldozer took the builder three years to complete. It includes two German geared drive 24V motors with a 20:1 reduction supplying plenty of torque. The two main rams are powered by threaded shafts. Main power is from three batteries, two of 12V and one 24V lithium iron battery for the two motors. The 12V batteries power the rams, lights, engine sound, reversing bleeper, etc. Everything is radio controlled. Apart from the differential unit, everything is made from aluminium.
