One of the highlights of the 2020 London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace was the locomotive works set up by the Harlington Locomotive Society and photographed here by Roger Froud. The society has a half-mile track, which has been in use for 70 years, set in an orchard in Harlington village, close to  Heathrow Airport. It is open to the public on a regular basis from Easter onwards. Members, who have a broad range of interests, meet weekly throughout the year. Historically, the local area had many companies employing engineers including HMV, later EMI, the Aeolian Company's factory and Fairey Aviation. The engineering facilities of Heathrow Airport are close by. These companies provided an extensive potential membership base that has provided a willing and expert membership.

the only free and the only weekly magazine for model engineers.
