RIVER STEAM LAUNCH
SUZANNE
This fine model of an Edwardian steam launch is based on drawings published in Model Boats magazine in April 1972 for a launch called Wideawake. The engine is a Stuart Turner D10 powered by a Scotch boiler with Ingliss variation. The hull was made in mahogany recovered from a BT switchboard scrapped in around 1970.
Bill Langton built the model, named Suzanne, and launched it back in 1982. On display at the London Model Engineering Exhibition in 2017, it was still pristine.
