GARDEN SEAT
LONDON OMNIBUS
This is a Garden Seat London Omnibus, so-called because of the upper deck seats which were like their namesake, but fixed to the floor. It is to 1:8 scale by Roger Hardy and was displayed at the Alexandra Palace Exhibition by the Romford Model Engineering Club. Much older readers will be familiar with the outside spiral steps on later London motor buses.
The London streets were dominated by around 3,000 horse-drawn buses, half of them run by the London General Omnibus Company. Little wonder they were popular among advertisers.
