This model of the iconic Myford ML7 is a working lathe in 1:3 scale  built by Leonard Roe around 1956. In that year Mr Roe was rewarded with a Silver Medal at the Model Engineer Exhibition.

Cecil Moore, who founded the Myford business in 1934 was very impressed and after meeting Mr Roe arranged an exchange of the model for a brand new Myford Super Seven lathe.

The model remained at the company’s premises in Beeston until the business was sold. Chris Moore, former Myford boss, and son of the founder,  kept the model after the business was sold, until he sadly died suddenly in 2019.The model was then donated to the SMEE by his widow, Fon, and sister, Jennifer.
