Regular visitors to model engineering shows will have been watching the progress of Jerry Burchell’s current project, a gas turbine locomotive, for a few years now. That is the GWR/British Rail 18100 prototype main line locomotive completed in 1951. At the 2017 Alexandra Palace show we spotted one of his earlier models of a paddle steamer engine. Quite a contrast. It appears to be to Edgar T Westbury’s popular diagonal paddle engine design dating back to the 1950s. That is 3/4” bore x 1.5” stroke. Drawings are now available for that paddle engine model from Sarik Hobbies which has taken over the plans service previously part of the Model Engineer magazine operation. https://www.sarikhobbies.com/product/diagonal-paddle-engine-m9/
